Et tu, Phoodies? (Spicy Bloody Cesar)

So, everyone has heard of the Bloody Mary. They range from simple, to essentially dinner in a glass (seriously, some people go overboard with the garnish…) Well if you haven’t heard of the Bloody Cesar, you’re in for a treat! The Bloody Cesar is like graduate coursework for Bloody Mary fans. By using Clamato juice instead of regular tomato juice, you get  sweet, deep flavor absent from the general Bloody Mary. This is my take on the traditional Bloody Ceasar, and it’s not for the faint of heart. The hot sauce adds an immediate heat, while the Sriracha adds the heat on the back end to keep the party going.

Please note, if you don’t like Bloody Marys, you will not appreciate the Bloody Cesar…so don’t waste the vodka. The recipe below will make two full drinks…I suppose you could cut it in half for one…but why?

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz. or a heavy handed double of Top Shelf Vodka
  • 8 oz. Clamato juice
  • 1 t. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 t. Sriracha
  • 1 t. hot sauce
  • 1/8 t. black pepper
  • 1/8 t. celery salt
  • Fresh lime juice (~1/4 lime)
  • Garnish: Celery stick, feta cheese stuffed olives, picked jalapeño, crispy bacon, cherry tomatoes…You can really get carried away with this one.

Directions:

1) Fill shaker with ice, and add all of your ingredients. Shake well.

2) Strain over tumbler full of ice.

3) Garnish to your hearts desire.

Enjoy!
